The next Eurovision song contest will be held in Rotterdam. Information about this appeared on the website of the festival Eurovision.tv.
It is noted that the event will be held on May 12, 14 and 16, 2020. In total, five cities fought for the right to host the international competition, but as a result, the organizers chose between Rotterdam and Maastricht. “Rotterdam has shown fantastic enthusiasm and responsibility. He has all the necessary conditions for receiving delegations from more than 40 countries next May, ”said Eurovision supervisor Jon Ola Sand.
In July, it became known that Amsterdam refused to hold a competition. The mayor of the capital of the Netherlands, Femke Halsema, explained that the Ziggo Dome concert hall, in which they were planning to organize the festival, will not be available on the scheduled dates. At the same time, the city’s attempts to find other large sites were unsuccessful. The Hague and Breda also said they were not ready to host the event.
In 2019, a Dutch artist, Duncan Lawrence, won the competition. He performed the composition Arcade, which violated the rule of the festival - he performed a song that was already in his repertoire. The European Broadcasting Union did not annul the victory of the artist. In second place was Italy, in third - Russia.
