During the wet season every day for hours the rain. However, the rainfall throughout the day – a great rarity. The wet season starts in may and ends in October.
Unlike Cambodia, in Laos is quite well-developed infrastructure with good roads, but because of the large number of landslides during the wet season the road surface is severely eroding.
In addition to landslides during the wet season in Laos, there is another problem – spreading of the rivers. Sometimes the water level in rivers can rise up to the bridges that cross them.
Deciding to go on vacation in Laos during the wet season, it is worth considering that moving from one city to another may take much more time, because of the blur of roads, and the leading positions are occupied by boats and other watercraft. However, the pouring of the rivers leads to the fact that the water flows there is a lot of garbage, so at this time it is not necessary to hire boats we offer. Debris gets into the motor and how to get to the beach – it is your problem. The perfect solution – an ordinary rowing boat.
The main advantages of the wet season – relatively low temperature, which is more suitable for European travelers, clean and fresh air, and most importantly, a small number of tourists.
The dry season in turn is divided into two periods. One characteristic of a fairly cool temperature, and the other hot.
The cool, dry season are especially popular with tourists. It starts in November and ends in February.
The hot wet season is characterized by intense heat and lasts for two months – March and April. Not the best time for vacation in Laos, if you are a passionate lover of unbearable high temperatures.
The main drawback of the hot season is a huge amount of smoke due to fires in forests and fields. However, it should be noted that the majority of these fires are not spontaneous, but deliberate. At this time the farmers burn the remnants of rice fields to improve the fertility of the next crop of rice. Heavy smoke is held in the period from March to may.
The main charms of the cooler dry season, comfortable temperature and relatively clean air. This period is an ideal time for vacation in Laos. However, there are also disadvantages – huge crowds of tourists and unrealistically high prices.
