Belkin has released a pair of plug-in WeMo Switch and WeMo Motion plug-ins that turn your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch into a remote home control tool. Simply put, this is the easiest way to organize a “smart home” today. WeMo Switch, shown in the photo on the right, is plugged into any outlet and immediately connects to your home Wi-Fi network.
Then, any device that can be remotely turned on and off using the aforementioned iOS gadgets through the pre-installed free WeMo application is connected to the socket built into the module. It also allows you to create a schedule to turn on and turn off household appliances at a given time. WeMo Motion (in the photo on the left) performs several other tasks: it registers movement from a distance of about 3 m.
Using the same WeMo application, you can set the way to respond to movement for a specific device connected via this adapter. For example, the light in the room will go out after 2 or 10 minutes after the movement in it stops. True, the design of the module is very strange - what prevented a separate module on the wires from being built directly into the main one? Both modules are already on sale. WeMo Switch sells for $ 50, and WeMo Motion is only available in the WeMo Switch + Motion bundle for $ 100.
